“Then the Pharisees went out and immediately plotted with the Herodians against Him, how they might destroy Him.” Mark 3:6
Jesus is countercultural. He uses the Sabbath to teach the heart of the Father. It has and will never be about rules and regulations. As Jesus challenges those around Him we read of the Pharisees and the Herodians plotting against Him.
The Pharisees trusted in their goodness. They thought peace came through their good works. The Herodians trusted in Herod and believed peace came through the politics. Their trust was in anything other than Jesus. They deceived themselves.
What about you and me? Are we bent towards trusting in pride and political affiliations? Repeatedly I realize as I trust in the Lord He ALWAYS comes through. “It is better to trust in the Lord Than to put confidence in man.” (Psalms 118:8). Are you trusting Him and Him alone?
