Two words… the significance of two words!

Jesus had risen, He has risen indeed! We find out the first people to the tomb are 3 special ladies/ Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome. They bring spices with the hope to use them on the body of Jesus. But Jesus is no longer there only His messenger to spread the news.

What does He tell them to do? “But go, tell His disciples—and Peter—that He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him, as He said to you.” Mark 16:7

Two words… AND PETER! This is after Peter denied Jesus before Jesus’ death on the cross. It’s by design the Lord has His messenger add “and Peter” to the call of the disciples. It’s as he is calling Peter out of the remorse of his earlier denial.

The Lord could have shamed Peter. He could have been done with Peter, but instead in the midst of Peter’s mistake the Lord calls Him by name. Do you know the Lord does that for us today? Sure, we botch it at times, we sin, fall short… but the Lord isn’t done with us. He knows us by name, He calls us by name, He restores us afresh. Right now, the Lord is saying to you and me to turn to Him and be refreshed!
