Jesus fulfilled over 300 prophecies throughout His life. At the time those who walked with Jesus probably didn’t realize each fulfillment. As they studied the Scriptures the prophecies from years before, through different writers, over spans of years were realized and recorded in the Gospel records.

Jesus had been betrayed, left alone by His followers, unjustly prosecuted, beaten, and humiliated to say the least. We read, “Now it was the third hour, and they crucified Him. And the inscription of His accusation was written above: THE KING OF THE JEWS. With Him they also crucified two robbers, one on His right and the other on His left. So the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “And He was numbered with the transgressors.”” Mark 15:25-28

Over 700 years before Isaiah the prophet wrote this prophecy that pointed to Jesus being the Messiah. A few verses before this prophecy Isaiah would write, “Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, And as a sheep before its shearers is silent, So He opened not His mouth.”

Do you believe we have all went astray, sinned, and turned to our own ways?

Do you believe we deserved to be punished for our sin?

Do you believe the Father laid our iniquity on Jesus, wounded Him for our transgressions, afflicted Him because of our sin?

Do you believe our sorrows were given to Jesus, peace was made possible because of Him, and healing was made possible by His stripes?

A new life awaits for those who put their trust in Jesus. We are not promised a life with no problems or issues, but we are promised a heavenly peace which was made possible by the Messiah. He was numbered with the transgressors so you wouldn’t have to be.
