Be ready! Hypostatic union! Haha… throwing a couple terms out there as we read Mark 13 today. Read it for yourself.

We find Jesus talking to His disciples about things that would happen in the future. Now, there are many views of scholars who are way studied and smarter than me. Each of them has scriptures to prove their point. Pre-tribulation, Mid-tribulation, Post-Tribulation, Pre-Wrath, even Preterists. I am not here to debate and none of these are salvation issues so let me point out a couple things Jesus says as we read today:

1- “And pray that your flight may not be in winter.” Mark 13:18

Jesus tells them to pray about a particular time where fleeing may come, but pray it would not be in a certain season. Why do I like this? It considers Jesus humanity. See, Jesus was 100% God AND 100% man (hypostatic union) And He told us to pray, just like He prayed. Not knowing what the future might hold, but leaning on the Father’s will.

2- “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is.” Mark 13:32-33

“Nor the Son” … God is a Trinitarian God: Father, Son, Holy Spirit. Three separate entities yet ONE GOD. Each having a position or responsibility but each being God. Jesus here is recognizing He didn’t know the day or hour. Let’s not be so concerned about the day or the hour but let’s just BE READY! Living each day for the Kingdom of God. No matter what you believe about how it will all shake out let’s live in such a way that honors the Lord. Let’s be found loving Him and loving others. Beside Jesus promised, ““Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” John 14:1-3
