Maybe some of you have been doing some pickup orders lately. You go into the restaurant where the food is sitting on a shelf. The inscription on the bag identifies your bag of food. You know it’s yours because the inscription that’s on it.   Jesus is being examined continually the last week of His life. Maybe, you are aware a sacrifice lamb offered in the Old Covenant system was examined for any imperfections. Fitting, Jesus being the sacrificial lamb, is being treated the same way leading to His soon crucifixion. They try to trip Jesus up about paying taxes (which by the way He says we should do).

“Shall we pay, or shall we not pay?” But He, knowing their hypocrisy, said to them, “Why do you test Me? Bring Me a denarius that I may see it.” So they brought it. And He said to them, “Whose image and inscription is this?” They said to Him, “Caesar’s.” And Jesus answered and said to them, “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” And they marveled at Him.” Mark 12:15-17

Whose inscription is on that coin? Caesars... then render to him what is his. Easy, huh? Have you considered this is still true today? As much as we should render to Caesar what is Caesar’s we should also render to the Lord what is the Lord’s. Jesus bought and adopted us with His death on the cross. So, shouldn’t the inscription of our lives render to being a child of God?

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart.” Deuteronomy 6:5-6

May our lives reflect whose we are!
