As we read thru Mark, please take time to read each chapter for yourself. Share what the Lord speaks to you or what you see in the chapter. We won’t be able to cover the whole chapter in a short devo. Would love to hear from you!

“And as He walked by the Sea of Galilee, He saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. Then Jesus said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men.” They immediately left their nets and followed Him.” Mark 1:16-18

Simon and Andrew were gifted fisherman. They had grown up on the waters and knew all about their craft. This was who they were… UNTIL... Jesus!

Do you know Jesus wants the same for you? He isn’t trying to change you; He is trying to show you who He created you to be.

These men hadn’t shown themselves to be worthy of this call. They hadn’t worked for it their whole life. Look what God told Jeremiah, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”  Jeremiah 1:5

When Jesus saves you it’s not to a new you. It’s to the you He created you to be. You are gifted. You are created in His image. Some of you have just been using your gifts and talents on something less than the call of the Lord and the benefit of His kingdom. Turn to Jesus, turn away from that old of way of living and doing life. There’s a greater call on your life. He took fishermen to be fishers of men. He’s got great plans for you too!
