Judges 17

Do not do this, but do this!

"Only You can satisfy my heart, Only You can satisfy my soul, Jesus"

So Micah steals a hefty amount of money from his mother and then returns it so she rewards him. How? By creating a graven image. Then Micah makes his son his own priest until a random Levite swings by the house so Micah pays him to be his priest. We read, "In those days there was no king in Israel; every man did what was right in his own eyes." Judges 17:6

"Every man did what was right in his own eyes"... we can be sincere in our ways but be sincerely wrong. Being under the authority of God's Word, submitting to the leading of Holy Spirit, and being in community with other saints help us to stay grounded in the ways of the Father. Our eyes should not be leading us. Jesus should be.

Let me just say, "don't do what's right in your own eyes. Submit your ways to the Lord, His Holy Spirit, and the counsel of the saints. Let Jesus be our satisfaction and guide."
