Character and Commitment without concession!
Reading in the book of Judges reminds me of the Wild West a lot of talk about the Lord, but a lot of people doing whatever they wanted to do.
"The elders of Gilead said to Jephthah, "The Lord is witness between us; surely we will do as you have said."" Judges 11:10
Rightly said, the Lord is a witness. He was then and is today as well. He's a witness of all that takes good or bad. Jephthah's dad has him thru a prostitute. After he's thrown out by his family he raids with worthless men. Gilead takes him back only for him to make a rash vow. It was a mess. I will say the Lord uses our messes and still does the miraculous. He did, does, and always will. Jephthah ends up being included in Hebrews 11.
Today, people still do what they want and leave a tag of the Lord on their deeds regardless if it's of His character. The Lord by the power of Holy Spirit develops in us godly character and commitment without the need to make any concessions that aren't of Him. Walk in knowing you've been redeemed and made new to look more like Jesus than you did yesterday. He has transformed you and is continuing changing you.
