Who do you do it for? Why do you do what you do?
Jesus had just healed a man on the Sabbath and now there are scoffers. As Jesus is interacting with them, He speaks of His witness. “If I alone testify about Myself, My testimony is not true.” John 5:31
Jesus goes on to say, “I have come in My Father’s name…” Just before this Jesus also said, “I can do nothing on My own initiative. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is just, because I do not seek My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.” John 5:30
Jesus testified of the Father. As He did the Father bore witness of who He was. In the same way we’re called to bear witness to Jesus, to His death, burial, and resurrection. We should be living for His great name. Why do you do the things you do? Who are you doing things for when you do them? Let what we do and why we do it be for the name of Jesus. Then let the Father take care of the rest.
