Someone different! As we close the book of Job we read of his response to the Lord and the Lord's declaration to Job and his friends. Job says, "I know that You can do everything, And that no purpose of Yours can be withheld from You. You asked, 'Who is this who hides counsel without knowledge?' Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand, Things too wonderful for me, which I did not know. Therefore I abhor myself, And repent in dust and ashes." Job 42:2-3, 6
Job's revelation is clear, and I hope we see it too. This biblical narrative mentions Job, but it's not truly about him. His story is about the Lord-and so is ours. The events of our lives-the highs and lows, victories and failures, joys and sufferings-are less about us and more about God.
What is your life centered on? Who is the main character in your story? It's easy to make every moment about ourselves, but Job's life points to a greater truth: it's about a glorious God. Even through pain, Job's experiences reveal God's goodness. No matter what life brings, let's live to reflect and magnify God's glory, not our own. That's what's important. This is where our focus should be!
