Think You're Smart?
As we read thru Job, we encounter a profound section on wisdom. First, it highlights how difficult it is to attain true wisdom. Then, it reveals the immense value and inaccessibility of wisdom. Finally, it unveils the source of wisdom.
"And to man He said, 'Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, And to depart from evil is understanding.' " Job 28:28
"Fear of man is paralyzing, but the fear of the Lord is energizing." -David Jeremiah
We can chase all the wisdom the world offers, but in the end, it falls short. We can strive to understand every event in our lives and its reasons, but that pursuit alone is fleeting. Paul reminds us, "that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." Phil 2:10-11
We may kneel before our desire for worldly wisdom and understanding, but know every knee will bow before our King. Wisdom and understanding are within our reach today. Reverence and honor for the Lord today provides answers tomorrow. If you think you're smart, the wisest choice is to worship the Lord today!
