Heart-check time.
Eliphaz comes out swinging like Joe Frazier against Ali, hurling accusations at Job. He says, "Is not your wickedness great, And your iniquity without end? For you have taken pledges from your brother for no reason, And stripped the naked of their clothing. You have not given the weary water to drink, And you have withheld bread from the hungry." Job 22:5-7
Yet, in God's eyes, Job was righteous. Still, the attacks from his friends grew increasingly harsh. What started as a seed of false accusation and condemnation has now borne bitter fruit.
This challenges us to examine the seeds we sow with our words and actions. Are we harboring even the smallest seeds of judgment or accusation against others? If so, may the Lord uproot them completely.
Father, help us to not hold things against each other. Help us to not sow unhelpful or hurtful seeds towards others. Strengthen us to see others like You see us and love others like You us. Amen.
