There is always a way!
Jeremiah continues to speak strong words from the Lord concerning His people and their actions. But we must remember that even in the midst of these hard words, there is always a desire for the people to turn back to the Lord.
Jeremiah writes: "Thus says the Lord: "Stand in the ways and see, And ask for the old paths, where the good way is, And walk in it; Then you will find rest for your souls. But they said, 'We will not walk in it.' Jeremiah 6:16
There have been times in my life when the Lord has continually spoken to me about unrepentant sin. Through my devotional time, the words of those closest to me who are willing to speak truth into my life, times of worship, or simply His still, small voice, He has encouraged me to turn away from the sin that so easily entangles me.
Maybe you can relate.
Do you recognize the heart of the Lord? Do you see His mercy on full display?
This is where we see the character of God so clearly. He deals with sin by calling His people back to Himself. The question is: Are we listening?
When we recognize the depth of His grace and the length of His mercy, it should cause us to lay down anything that is not of Him. He always provides a way back to Himself. The choice is ours: Will you choose it?
Father, minister to our hearts. Help us to see the error of our own ways and turn from any sin that so easily entangles us. Thank You for Your grace and mercy. In Jesus' name, Amen.
