One way or another!
Jeremiah ministers on behalf of the Lord, sharing His heart for His people. Yet they continue to do what they want, when they want. Does that reflect the Lord being truly Lord of their lives? No, certainly not.
But what we also see is the Lord and His grace.
Jeremiah writes: "Your iniquities have turned these things away, And your sins have withheld good from you." Jeremiah 5:25
What good from the Lord are we withholding from our own lives because we continue to live according to our own ways?
Let me say this: I'm glad that I'm the Lord's, and I hope you are too. I'm also thankful that, in His grace, the Lord doesn't let me stray too far. When He convicts me to let go of something and I refuse, He will sometimes use circumstances to draw me back into His arms.
I'm thankful for that. Maybe not always in the moment, but I am thankful.
Is the Lord asking you to let go of something you've made a greater priority than Him? Is He having to use circumstances to get your attention because you aren't simply responding to His still, small voice?
Thank Him for that. But don't stop there. Turn to Him instead of questioning why.
He is there. He is drawing you to Himself, sometimes through His gentle voice, and sometimes through circumstances that get our attention.
And that's called grace.
