When Will We Turn?!
Jeremiah, while still a young man, shares the word of the Lord that came to him concerning Jerusalem. When times were good, the people turned to other things. But when times became difficult, they would turn back to the Lord.
Jeremiah writes: ""As the thief is ashamed when he is found out, So is the house of Israel ashamed; They and their kings and their princes, and their priests and their prophets, Saying to a tree, 'You are my father,' And to a stone, 'You gave birth to me.' For they have turned their back to Me, and not their face. But in the time of their trouble They will say, 'Arise and save us.'" Jeremiah 2:26-27
A loving Father certainly wants us to turn to Him in times of trouble, but He also wants us to turn to Him in our everyday lives. He wants to hear from us in the ups just as much as He wants to hear from us in the downs.
How much time do you spend talking with the Father when everything is going well? Do you worship Him when life is running smoothly?
Don't wait until difficulties come to call upon the Lord. Call upon Him today.
I can be guilty of becoming quiet toward the Lord when life is going swimmingly. But when the tide changes, I'm quick to cry out to Him.
He desires for us to live in continual conversation with Him. Is that what your relationship with Him looks like?
If not, take some time today simply to talk with the Father. Take some time to worship Him. Praise Him, not because you need something from Him, but simply because He is worthy.
Don't let trouble be the thing that turns your face toward God. Turn to Him today.
