Swaying hearts...

Isaiah ministered during the reign of Ahaz, a king whose story is found in 2 Kings 16 and 2 Chronicles 28. Ahaz did not do what was right in the sight of the Lord, and he led many down a destructive path. Isaiah writes in Isaiah 7:2: "And it was told to the house of David, saying, "Syria's forces are deployed in Ephraim." So his heart and the heart of his people were moved as the trees of the woods are moved with the wind.

Bad news from the battle lines caused their hearts to shake with fear and discouragement.

Sound familiar?

It doesn't take much for our hearts to become unsettled by the headlines, circumstances, or uncertainty around us. Yet Jesus speaks directly to this in Luke 6:46-49 when He talks about building our lives on the Rock instead of the sand.

Let Scripture remind us today:

-Eph. 2:8-10: Our salvation is in Jesus.

-Jude 1:24: God's power keeps us.

-Rom. 8:38-39: Nothing can separate us from Jesus.

-John 10:28-29: Jesus gives & keeps us in eternal life.

-Eph. 4:30: Our redemption is sealed in the Holy Spirit.

Our eternal security is purchased by Christ, promised by the Father, and sealed by the Holy Spirit. So let's not live with swaying hearts. Let's stand firmly in His truth today.
