What we believe about the Father determines the way we live.
Isaiah continues to reveal the character of the Lord in these verses. Israel's rebellion had not ceased, yet God's response still displayed His mercy, faithfulness, and covenant love.
"With a little wrath I hid My face from you for a moment; But with everlasting kindness I will have mercy on you," Says the Lord, your Redeemer. "For this is like the waters of Noah to Me; For as I have sworn That the waters of Noah would no longer cover the earth, So have I sworn That I would not be angry with you, nor rebuke you. For the mountains shall depart And the hills be removed, But My kindness shall not depart from you, Nor shall My covenant of peace be removed," Says the Lord, who has mercy on you." Isaiah 54:8-10
Even in the midst of rebellion, the Lord reveals His mercy and grace.
My favorite phrase in this passage is, "With a little wrath I hid My face from you for a moment." Hiding His face is very different from turning His back. Even in their rebellion, the Lord had not abandoned His people. His presence remained, and His covenant stood secure.
The same is true for us. No matter what we face today, the Lord is present.
The question is: Do we actually live as though we believe that? If we truly believe He is with us, it should transform the way we live. It should change how we treat others, give us confidence to follow wherever He leads, and strengthen our trust that He will accomplish His purposes and defend His own.
His character shapes our confidence. His promises steady our hearts. His presence defines the way we walk.
So, what do you believe about the Father?
