Hey. He did it.
As Isaiah writes, we come to the third of what some call the "Servant Songs." These four songs are found in Isaiah 42:1-9; 49:1-13; 50:4-11; and 52:13-53:12. Each one describes the Messiah as God's meek and gentle Servant.
Here in Isaiah 50, we hear the Lord's response to Israel, who continued in their rebellion: "Is My hand shortened at all that it cannot redeem? Or have I no power to deliver?" Isaiah 50:2
The Messiah's response was found in His perfect sacrifice. He trusted the Father to deliver Him, even through suffering: "I gave My back to those who struck Me, And My cheeks to those who plucked out the beard; I did not hide My face from shame and spitting." Isaiah 50:6
Our deliverance came through Jesus' suffering. He trusted the Father even to the point of death. Jesus was willing to suffer for our sake, and Isaiah foretold it hundreds of years before it happened.
That's our Jesus. That's His example.
There is no humiliation or suffering we will ever endure that compares to what Jesus willingly endured for us. So look to Jesus. Consider His innocence. Consider the slander He endured. Consider the suffering He willingly took on our behalf.
Whatever you may be facing today, remember this: Jesus did it. And He did it while being completely innocent. The King of kings willingly suffered for you.
Will you look to Him? Will you trust Him? Will you follow His example?
