This particular prophecy from Isaiah was written nearly 200 years before it came to pass, yet it was fulfilled exactly as God declared. The Lord restored His people through Cyrus, a king who did not even know Him personally.

""Thus says the Lord to His anointed, To Cyrus, whose right hand I have held- To subdue nations before him And loose the armor of kings, To open before him the double doors, So that the gates will not be shut:" Isaiah 45:1

God anointed Cyrus to conquer Babylon, paving the way for Israel's release from captivity. The night Babylon fell, Daniel was summoned before the Babylonian king, just as recorded in Daniel 5.

Though Cyrus did not know the Lord when God called him, he eventually recognized that the Lord had been guiding his steps all along.

"For Jacob My servant's sake, And Israel My elect, I have even called you by your name; I have named you, though you have not known Me. I am the Lord, and there is no other; There is no God besides Me. I will gird you, though you have not known Me, That they may know from the rising of the sun to its setting That there is none besides Me. I am the Lord, and there is no other; I form the light and create darkness, I make peace and create calamity; I, the Lord, do all these things.'" Isaiah 45:4-7

There truly is no other God.

Every detail. Every season. Every victory. Every trial. Nothing is outside of His sovereign hand. He is always working His purposes for the good of His people and the glory of His name.

It may not always feel that way when life is hard or the path is uncertain, but His faithfulness is not determined by our circumstances. He is still on the throne. He is still in control. He is still good.

Turn to Him today. Don't allow your circumstances to become louder than His promises or greater than His power. Trust the One who holds history, and your life, in His hands.
