In the first couple chapters of Hebrews the writer quotes multiple scriptures from the Old Testament (Psalms, 2 Samuel, & Deuteronomy). This time he quotes Psalm 8 as he writes, “Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, In the day of trial in the wilderness,”” Hebrews 3:7-8

But notice he says, “as the Holy Spirit says”. Let’s be reminded the author of the books and letters of the Bible are less about who wrote them and more about who inspired them… God, the Holy Spirit. We read in Hebrews 1:1, “God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets,” Hebrews 1:1

Let’s be reminded that the Father has spoken, is speaking, and will continue to speak. I hope you’re encouraged by this! Speak Father, speak! And may we be listening for His voice.

Are you aware of the voice of the Father in your life? Have you taken time to sit still and listen? Elijah thinking the Father’s voice would be in an earthquake, wind, or fire found Him speak in “…a still small voice.” 1 Kings 19:12

Cut the tv off, turn the radio down, silence your cell phone, get to a place and allow the voice of the Father to speak in your stillness. Watch as you are refreshed from the draining of this world and it’s ever-increasing loudness and hurry.
