Take some time this morning...

Habakkuk questions why it seems certain behaviors are allowed, "Then the Lord answered..." Hab 2:2

In the Lord's answer we can ask ourselves a question, ""What profit is the idol when its maker has carved it, Or an image, a teacher of falsehood? For its maker trusts in his own handiwork When he fashions speechless idols. Woe to him who says to a piece of wood, 'Awake!' To a mute stone, 'Arise!' And that is your teacher? Behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver, And there is no breath at all inside it." Hab 2:18-19

Idols come in all different shapes and sizes today. We were literally made to worship and if we aren't worshiping the Lord who or what are we worshiping? It's not much different today of what's written here. We make idols out of stuff, hobbies, work, even people in our lives. What's most important to us (or more important than the Lord) is an idol. And our idols have no real life in them. We are only fulfilled for a short time. What's most important to you? Is it the Lord? His kingdom? His presence? Let us say, "But the Lord is in His holy temple. Let all the earth be silent before Him."" Hab 2:20
