Little is known about Habakkuk or when the letter was written. It was before the nation's fall to Babylon. Habakkuk seems to be towards the end of the reign of Josiah.
Maybe you can relate at times feeling this same way? "How long, O Lord, will I call for help, And You will not hear? I cry out to You, "Violence!" Yet You do not save. Why do You make me see iniquity, And cause me to look on wickedness? Yes, destruction and violence are before me; Strife exists and contention arises. Therefore the law is ignored And justice is never upheld. For the wicked surround the righteous; Therefore justice comes out perverted." Hab 1:2-4
Every scripture is in the Bible for a reason. As Habakkuk writes of the coming Babylonian invasion he questions wickedness, violence, contentions, and injustice being allowed.
At times it does seem like evil is celebrated and there's no end in sight. Habakkuk felt that way and was honest before the Lord. He wrestled w/the environment of the day. Maybe you feel the same about today? Have you talked to the Lord about it? As you cry out to the Lord HE WILL speak. He will also transform you in the process. So cry out to Him just like Habakkuk did. He is ready to hear from you.
