Turning something we know into something we believe!

As we close Genesis we have an extensive view of Joseph's life. I've been stuck on this one comment by Joseph for the last couple days. I hope in sharing it we can all get a deeper revelation of the truth Joseph believed.

In response to his brother’s sin and abandonment, "Joseph said to them, "Do not be afraid, for am I in the place of God?" Gen 50:19

Joseph has been mistreated by his brothers to the point they even believed Joseph would retaliate after their father's death. But Joseph believed something greater than his brothers even considered.

Even though Joseph had the power and authority to take revenge he submitted and understood the will and goodness of God. He knew there was a bigger meaning to his suffering. He knew God's glory was greater than his own feelings and circumstances. Jospeh knew and believed what we sometimes (as the NT Church) struggle to live out and practice. Vengeance isn't ours.

Do you believe the Lord knows when you've been wronged? Do you trust He's able to handle it in His timing and for His greater glory? May we not put ourselves in the place of God. Let go and let God...
