We read about Jacob's sons. He actually shares about things that will happen in their future. He shares about issues and victories in their past. For several there were many problems in their past and many due in their future according to Jacob's prophecy. But in the details of their lives Jacob says and does this:

"All these are the twelve tribes of Israel, and this is what their father spoke to them. And he blessed them; he blessed each one according to his own blessing." Gen 49:28

They were his children and he blessed them. His blessing wasn't contingent on their victories or failures. Their blessings were based upon their sonship. Who does that remind you of? "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God." John 1:12-13

Let's not forget our blessings of being a child of God isn't based upon our merits but His amazing grace. Are you, His child? Then remember you are blessed indeed!
