Grace is part of the Father's character. It's His favor toward the unworthy and benevolence to the undeserving. It's His willingness to forgive and bless us abundantly in spite of us not deserving it.

Judah marries a foreign lady against the Lord's commands. His son does the same and dies in his wickedness. His wife, Tamar, is treated poorly by Judah and his sons so she takes things into her own hands. Judah says, "She is more righteous than I, inasmuch as I did not give her to my son Shelah." Gen 38:26

Through this mess Perez is born. "But it came about as he drew back his hand, that behold, his brother came out. Then she said, "What a breach you have made for yourself!" So he was named Perez. Afterward his brother came out who had the scarlet thread on his hand; and he was named Zerah." Gen 38:29-30

You would think this is where the story ends, but Perez appears in the genealogy of Jesus in Matt 1:3 & Luke 3:33. This family remains in Jesus' lineage only by the Father's grace. Perez, his family, even ourselves don't deserve the grace of God, but He extends it to us. That grace is undeserving and life transforming. Let's praise the Lord. His grace, oh what a gift is His great grace!
