“And while he lingered, the men took hold of his hand, his wife’s hand, and the hands of his two daughters, the LORD being merciful to him, and they brought him out and set him outside the city.” Genesis 19:16

Sodom and Gomorrah’s culture was wicked. Jude even talks about it in Jude 1:7, giving a description of the sin that was rampant there. But notice that in God’s grace He wanted to save. It says as Lot lingered the men took their hand and led them out. Know that the character of Father God is one that desires that we not linger in the sin of this world. 2 Peter says that He is not slack concerning His promise, but long suffering not that anyone should perish.    What did Lot do prior to this moment?

“So Lot went out and spoke to his sons-in-law, who had married his daughters, and said, “Get up, get out of this place; for the LORD will destroy this city!” But to his sons-in-law he seemed to be joking.” Genesis 19:14

He knew the truth of the coming time, and with his whole heart told those he loved. Their response was one that we as believers get sometimes today, “this is a joke”.

1- The Father is loving and wants all to come to Him, but remember each person has to make their own decision.

2- By His Holy Spirit we should and are led to share with others His love and redemption.

Remember, we can’t control what happens in the end of days, we also can’t control how someone will respond to the Lord and the Gospel... but we can control receiving His love and truth and sharing His love and truth. We live in a culture much like Sodom and Gomorrah. As we experience the goodness of God, let’s be sharing the goodness of God. Jesus told us that we were reconcilers.
