Abram was 75 years old when God told him to leave his family to inherit land, for a nation to be born from his offspring, and to live in the blessings of the Lord. According to Gen 21 Abraham was 100 years old when God fulfilled those promises.

To hear from the Lord is encouraging. To experience the fulfillment of the Lord's promise(s) is even more encouraging, indeed. Being faithful between the hearing and the fulfillment isn't always easy though.

Abram lost hope. He and Sarai took things into their own hands and quickly realized this wasn't the Lord, "Then Sarai said to Abram, "My wrong be upon you! I gave my maid into your embrace; and when she saw that she had conceived, I became despised in her eyes. The Lord judge between you and me."" Gen 16:5

God in His grace still fulfilled His promises in their lives, but the road became more difficult in the in-between. When we take things into our own hands the results are often more strenuous. We can create strife where the Lord wants peace. If the Lord has spoken trust, He will do what He says He will. "Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!" Ps 27:14
