I pray as I write this, and you read this today the Spirit of the Lord will enlighten and convict us today. Father, please do Your work in our hearts afresh today.

There comes this time in our lives where we start to compare ourselves with others. We may think we do better than the next person. We consider our intentions and weigh others by their actions. We start to believe we are good and it’s our good work that one day will save us.

Paul is dealing with those who’ve went back to believing as they follow the law that will save them, he writes, “O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified? Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh?”Galatians 3:1,3

It’s not my good works or yours that saves us and transforms us, it’s the finished work of Jesus on the cross and the power of His resurrection. Friend don’t go through life depending on your good works for eternal life. There’s nothing we can do good enough to be perfect. We need Jesus!

Understanding the law helps us to realize we aren’t perfect, and never will be. Putting our faith (trusting in and submitting to Jesus as Lord) gives us an inheritance of eternal life and transforms our lives today. May we fully lean on and trust in Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection.
