Narrowly dependent.
On the 2nd wave of exiles only 1600-1700 made the trip even though the king permitted and supported their return.
Ezra, however was a leader. He even lead by depending on the Lord. "Then I proclaimed a fast there at the river of Ahava, that we might humble ourselves before our God to seek from Him a safe journey for us, our little ones, and all our possessions. For I was ashamed to request from the king troops and horsemen to protect us from the enemy on the way, because we had said to the king, "The hand of our God is favorably disposed to all those who seek Him, but His power and His anger are against all those who forsake Him." So we fasted and sought our God concerning this matter, and He listened to our entreaty." Ez 8:21-23
Ezra could have asked the king for help. Many of us would have which would have been the most logical thing to do, but not Ezra. He trusted the Lord to help him thru the difficult journey.
When has Holy Spirit prompted you to trust the Lord even when it wasn't the most practical to do?
Like Ezra there are times where we are called to trust the Lord beyond the practical. And when we do the Lord is glorified. Let each step we take be for His glory.
