Far off the path!

"So now let us make a covenant with our God to put away all the wives and their children, according to the counsel of my Lord and of those who tremble at the commandment of our God; and let it be done according to the law." Ez 10:3

Let's remember they were under the law when they made this decision. Also, it seems they were led by Holy Spirit as they were in unity and there was a recognition of sin and repentance. This dealt with divorce and was a difficult situation. Thankfully, today we have scripture to help us discern how to handle unbelieving spouses (1 Cor 7).

What can we take from these verses? Israel had strayed far from the path of the Lord. They had sinned. And regardless of their sin we see a God willing to forgive and restore. Ezra says, "Now therefore, make confession to the Lord God of your fathers and do His will...." Ez 10:11

There's no place we can run or no sin so great God can't, won't, or hasn't forgiven from a repentant heart and confessing mind. You are never too off the path. God is present everywhere (Ps 139). Be still and know He is the Lord! He is in your presence now. Talk to Him.
