There's a greater purpose!

They were celebrating the greatness of the kingdom. The king "reigned from India to Ethiopia over 127 provinces," We read of Queen Vashti for whatever reason "refused to come at the king's command delivered by the eunuchs..."(Esther 1:12). The king's advisors say, "let the king give her royal position to another who is more worthy than she." Esther 1:19.

On top of marriage there was also the royal position for the queen (and the king) for the advancement of the kingdom. She may have not liked the king's decisions or they could have been arguing but the royal position of marriage also represented the kingdom.

The same is true for marriage. Our marriages in Jesus represent His kingdom and the Gospel. There are times where life's difficult, but in those times let's remember the kingdom of God and the Gospel. We love, respect, and care because of Jesus (even in indifference with our spouse). Christ and His kingdom are always first. Chelsea and I are in the trenches with you (and I'm no marriage expert), but marriage is a symbol of the Gospel and for the further His Kingdom. So seek His Spirit knowing your marriage has a greater purpose even in difficult times.
