Father, keep making us more like Jesus. Help us to yield to Holy Spirit. We need more of You and less of us. Let our lives glorify Your name Father. Amen.

“For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth),” Ephesians 5:8-9

Our lives are meant for the Father’s glory not our own. We are redeemers of time in these evil days (v16). We are to “…be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us...” Ephesians 5:1-2

Jesus gave us the best example of how to live. Looking at Jesus’ life we see Him spending time at Peter’s house loving Peter’s mom, dining with those looked down on at Matthew’s house, He had compassion for the 5000 who had spent the day with Him, He loved and taught about continued forgiveness, He had compassion for those with physical abnormalities, hung at a lepers house, He intentionally broke bread right before His betrayal with those closest to Him, He was grieved by the Pharisee’s hard hearts, He gave His time and loved a rich man who He knew would still reject His offer of abundant life, He celebrated with others at a wedding, He served by washing feet, He loved on Zacchaeus by eating at his house, and spoke to a woman at the well in her shame.

This is what it looks like to live for the Lord and His glory. Every day we get to do the same. Jesus took it one day at a time. He invested in the lives of others even though it didn’t look like a great investment of time and energy. He glorified His Father, and we should do the same. Today’s your chance.

We were once in darkness living for ourselves but now because of Jesus’ redeeming blood we get to redeem the time by walking in goodness, righteousness, and truth. How will you live this day and for whose glory will you live?
