Solomon has stated many things concerning his heart. He “gave his heart” “considered in his heart”, “said to his heart “, “caused his heart”, “communed with his heart”, and now he says “he applied his heart” to things under the sun. All of these dealings with his heart were decisions he made.

The prophet Jeremiah said about the heart, “The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?” (Jeremiah 17:9). Ezekiel then writes about the power of the New Covenant, “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.” Ezekiel 36:26

Putting our faith in Jesus’ and His resurrection gives us a new heart. We’re born again by the Spirit of God. We don’t have to give our hearts to under the sun thinking. We’re given the choice to walk in righteous. To not be slaves to sin anymore. Solely because of Christ. What are you applying your heart too? May it be less of this world and more of Jesus. He is worthy to be worshiped, nothing else is.
