Today, as we read I am asking myself, “Am I living a balanced life?

Solomon writes, “I have seen everything in my days of vanity: There is a just man who perishes in his righteousness, And there is a wicked man who prolongs life in his wickedness. Do not be overly righteous, Nor be overly wise: Why should you destroy yourself? Do not be overly wicked, Nor be foolish: Why should you die before your time?” Ecclesiastes 7:15-17

He’s making the case to be righteous, but not too much; be wise, but not too much; be wicked, but not too much; be foolish, but not too much. He is basing this upon his “days of vanity” (v15). Be balanced He encourages.

Now, let me make a case to be unbalanced. Be loving, and do not hate. Be forgiving, and do not hold grudges. Be sacrificial, and not selfish. Be about Jesus and His Kingdom, not about ourselves and our kingdom. Be unbalanced I encourage.

When we worship Jesus and live Jesus there’s no way to be balanced. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus.
