In our discussion as a church the other week my wife, Chelsea, brought up our focus being off at times. She mentioned John 10:10, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” John 10:10

How often we focus on the enemy stealing, killing, and destroying? Go to any news site and the focus is the same. Headlines about theft, murder, and destruction. Solomon had been consumed with similar thoughts as he records, “Then I returned and considered all the oppression that is done under the sun: And look! The tears of the oppressed, But they have no comforter— On the side of their oppressors there is power, But they have no comforter.” Ecclesiastes 4:1

We miss (or forget) about the second part of John 10:10, “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” Jesus came for life and life more abundantly. Keep it simple today. Instead of focusing on all the problems close to home or in the news practice,

1-Worship- think/meditate on the Lord

2- Praise- speak out loud praise, read scripture over yourself and others

3- Pray- talk to the Lord about what’s going on in your heart and mind.

Keep it simple: Worship, Praise, & Pray. No matter what’s going on in the moment this is the remedy. If we all could learn these practices more consistently there would be less of the first part of John 10:10 and more of the second.
