Moses communicated specifically how to observe all the Lord had commanded. He spoke about what to do or not to do and the negative/positive consequences of one’s choices. The Lord clearly communicated how to walk in His ways and to keep His commandments (v16). Moses even writes, “For this commandment that I command you today is not too hard for you, neither is it far off. It is not in heaven, that you should say, ‘Who will ascend to heaven for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?’ Neither is it beyond the sea, that you should say, ‘Who will go over the sea for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?’ But the word is very near you. It is in your mouth and in your heart, so that you can do it.” (Deuteronomy 30:11-14)

As clear as the Lord was with His commands, He knew Israel would turn their hearts away from Him. What did the Lord do with that knowledge? “then the Lord your God will restore your fortunes and have mercy on you, and he will gather you again from all the peoples where the Lord your God has scattered you.” (Deuteronomy 30:3)

You catch that? Even though He clearly laid out His commands and there was no excuse not to follow them the Lord made a way to be restored if or when they did sin and fall short. That’s grace! Whoever said the character of God in the Old Testament wasn’t one of grace… that's a lie!

When we truly recognize the depth of the Father’s grace and mercy it’s life changing; life transforming. The scarlet thread of His grace is woven through the Old and New Testament alike. The Father’s grace and mercy is just as evident today as it has been since the foundation of the earth. So, let’s worship Him for the Lord is worthy to be worshiped. And may the transformation of our lives be evident of the Father’s grace and mercy.
