Even in the laws Moses communicated to Israel there’s a call of remembrance to the Lord and He has done. Look at these two verses:

“But you shall remember that you were a slave in Egypt, and the Lord your God redeemed you from there; therefore I command you to do this thing.” Deuteronomy 24:18

“And you shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt; therefore I command you to do this thing.” Deuteronomy 24:22

First, we, “REMEMBER”. What are we doing when we remember? We think on, are mindful of, recount, and consider. How much time do you spend remembering the things of the Lord? We can sometimes spin out on thoughts not of the Lord and His goodness. The Lord says, REMEMBER, for He has delivered us from bondage!

And that’s where the “THEREFORE” comes to life. As we remember what the Lord has done in our lives and consider what He’s doing it propels us to action. Even when we don’t understand or find our next steps of faith difficult. As we remember we are propelled to the things of the Lord...

Israel had been in bondage to Egypt. As the Lord gave commands to protect them and propel them forward it must have been difficult. They were given new laws and commands they had never heard before. So, the Lord said, “remember”.

The same with us today. As we’re called into new faith situations, spoken to by the Holy Spirit, or commanded to love God and one another let’s REMEMBER: The Father has loved us much! It’s in our remembering that helps us to faithfully obey.
