Someone said the other day to me, “When praying I practice listening as much, I practice talking.”

Moses is remembering the Lord’s protection and provision as they traveled through the wilderness the last 40 years. Moses may have spent years in the wilderness, but he intently sought the Lord for direction with each turn.

“Then we turned and set out for the wilderness by the way to the Red Sea, as the Lord spoke to me, and circled Mount Seir for many days.” Deuteronomy 2:1

“Then the Lord said to me…” Deuteronomy 2:9

“that the Lord spoke to me, saying,” Deuteronomy 2:17

“The Lord said to me...” Deuteronomy 2:31

Moses didn’t just tell his plans to the Lord, he listened… and responded accordingly. Do you realize the Lord wants to speak into your life at each turn and searching as well?

When we pray, let’s put into practicing listening as much as we practice talking. This is definitely challenging me for, I’m a talker… but reading these scriptures reminds me I need to be listening for His leading as well. What’s the Lord saying to you? The only way to know is if we’re practicing listening in our time with the Lord.
