Living for what?

Jesus continues with a parables in the early part of Luke 16. Jesus uses a story where an unjust servant is recognized for his shrewdness. Take note the unjust steward isn't commended for morality but the wisdom he shows in the situation. Wisdom is different than morality. Jesus goes on to share about the rich man and Lazarus which doesn't seem to be a parable but an actual circumstance for us to learn from. In the middle of this Jesus says, "And He said to them, "You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is highly esteemed among men is an abomination in the sight of God." Luke 16:15

Whether the unjust steward or the rich man who wasn't named the similarity of them both loving money is true. The desire for money is often intertwined with justifying ourselves before others. Could this be said of us?

When we read these sections of scripture it's important to take note of where are hearts are right now? What's most important to us? And who we want to be recognized by?

Men may esteem you much, but does the Lord? For every knee shall bend and head bow before the Lord. So, who are you living for today?
