Two focuses. One truth.
Notice verse 1 reads, "In the first year of Darius". This was 3-4 years before 70 years would pass from 605 BC. Daniel knew the prophecies of Jeremiah. He knew the Lord promised to deliver the Jews from captivity soon. So he starts to pray for that delivery years before it was supposed to happen.
He has another vision near the end of the chapter that speaks of Jesus and the end of days. Both the prayer and the prophecy speak of the same truth. Redemption and Salvation thru the Messiah.
That being said, look at the cry of Daniel's heart. Please take time to read his prayer in verses 3-19. Would our prayers be like the prayers of Daniel in Daniel 9. Please read.
v3- Daniel fasted and mourned
v4- Daniel recognized the Father's glory
v5- Daniel confessed his sin
v9- Daniel spoke of the Fathers mercy
v10+ - Daniel prayed for his nation & others
v15- Daniel thanked the Lord for deliverance
There's way more. But Daniel's prayer is a prayer to be prayed even today. The Father is loving kindness, full of mercy and grace, and wants His children to talk to Him. Let us pray!
