Peace in conflict.
The Lord gives Daniel visions and dreams even while in servitude to a foreign king. There will be four visions in chap 7-12.
These visions speak of coming conflict between nations. Conflict was inevitable in Daniel's day as much as in ours today.
Daniel says, "As for me, Daniel, my spirit was distressed within me, and the visions in my mind kept alarming me... At this point the revelation ended. As for me, Daniel, my thoughts were greatly alarming me and my face grew pale, but I kept the matter to myself." Dan 7:15, 28
By this first vision Daniel had a range of emotions. It was revealed to him the saints would eventually receive the kingdom (v18, 21). But it was clear the saints would be affected by the conflict until that time.
The same is true for us today. There will be suffering, persecution, sickness, war, famine, and strife. Sin will plague this life until the fullness of God has come. Sin brings with it difficulties. It can be hard for us to understand difficult times will still happen.
We need to remember without Christ we deserve worse, but in Christ we can have hope and Rev 21:4 will come. Drawing close to Christ helps us to have peace even in the middle of conflict.
