I stand corrected!
First, let me say as we read Daniel this book isn't in chronological order. So don't read it as a timed sequence of events but as historical records in varying times.
Israel was in bondage to their captors, but they had freedoms. Thru multiple kings Daniel was promoted to be prince over a province. Even further "...Daniel began distinguishing himself among the commissioners and satraps because he possessed an extraordinary spirit, and the king planned to appoint him over the entire kingdom." Dan 6:3
We find out Daniel didn't do anything backhanded for this position. Even those who opposed Daniel, "...could find no ground of accusation or evidence of corruption, inasmuch as he was faithful, and no negligence or corruption was to be found in him." Dan 6:4
The Lord raised up Daniel to be in a political position for the Lord's own purposes. It didn't take corruption to be there. In the political climate today I've thought there's no way for one to be in a high political position without being corrupt. But I stand corrected. Let's remember it's the Lord who handles the promoting. Let's be 1 Tim 2:1-4 Jesus followers and remember Rom 13:1.
