Jesus said, "Therefore when you see the abomination of desolation which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet.." Matt. 24:15
Jesus referred to Daniel as a prophet. We will get to these prophesies later in Daniel. The Babylonians conquer Judah and take qualified youths to assimilate into their culture to serve the king. "But Daniel made up his mind that he would not defile himself with the king's choice food or with the wine which he drank; so he sought permission from the commander of the officials that he might not defile himself." Dan 1:8
Even though Daniel was being obedient to the Lord's leading he didn't go around picking fights w/his leaders. He asked for permission. He trusted the Lord would help him. Daniel's first move wasn't conflict.
There are times we can bring trouble on ourselves when we go around looking for trouble even for good purposes. But is that truly the heart of the Lord? The Lord helped Daniel in his obedience and He'll do the same for us.
We just need to be careful about trying to pick a fight in the middle of following Jesus. There will be battles for sure, but let's let the Lord choose those battles for us. Be obedient to the Lord's leading. Don't pick fights.
