If you squeeze a sponge full of Kool-Aid it will spill out all over the place.

Paul implores us, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.” Colossians 3:16

Here’s the reality whether we like it or not. What we put in will eventually come out. What we take in will be what we give out. Whether I like this idea or not I see the evidence of it in my life personally. If I veg-out on certain shows, music, etc. that’s usually what I spill out later. It’s true.

I can tell a big difference when I am listening to worship music, when I’m spending time in prayer, and when I’m in the Word of God regularly. When I’m doing so, I see the evidence of it in how I respond and love my family, friends, and coworkers. Now, I’m not doing it for this reason but what I take in spills over to those around me.

How’s your time in the Word?

How’s your time with Jesus?

What are you allowing to influence your mind, heart, and soul?

Questions I’m asking myself as well. For we are called to richly dwell with Christ and His Word and as we do we teach others from our overflow. Let’s be a church who spends time with Jesus and in His Word.
