Peter and the apostles end up getting put into prison. When on trial Peter doesn’t hold back saying, “We ought to obey God rather than men. The God of our fathers raised up Jesus whom you murdered by hanging on a tree. Him God has exalted to His right hand to be Prince and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins. And we are His witnesses to these things, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him.”” Acts 5:29-32

The apostles are beaten and told not to teach in the name of Jesus then sent away. “So they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name. And daily in the temple, and in every house, they did not cease teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ.” Acts 5:41-42

Sometimes circumstances are great and other times difficult and hard. How we live during any circumstances speaks volumes to those around us. The disciples walk away rejoicing at adversity for the sake of Christ. How do you handle adversity? When circumstances are difficult and hard do people see Christ in you? The apostles were innocent, yet injustice was prevailing it seemed. Their focus was on Jesus and their mission so matter what was thrown at them joy was in their heart. Let’s be examples of the power of the resurrection by handling trail and tribulation with joy in our hearts.
