Iron man, Thor, Captain America… what would you say your favorite superhero is?

Paul is traveling back to Jerusalem for Pentecost (verse 16) has stopped to proclaim the Truth faithfully in many cities along the way. Paul says, “And when they had come to him, he said to them: “You know, from the first day that I came to Asia, in what manner I always lived among you, serving the Lord with all humility, with many tears and trials which happened to me by the plotting of the Jews; how I kept back nothing that was helpful, but proclaimed it to you, and taught you publicly and from house to house, testifying to Jews, and also to Greeks, repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.” Acts 20:18-21

Was Paul a hero? Are we called to be heroes? No and no… Jesus is always the hero, always! Paul lived for the Hero, Jesus. He didn’t consider himself more than he was. He considered his life for the gospel. He went on to say, “But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.” Acts 20:24

The Father isn’t looking for heroes, He’s looking for faithful, obedient children. Do you know you can be like Paul? Like Jesus? Pray for those around you. Be faithful to testify about the truth in love. And watch as we count the gospel more important than our lives the Lord works His grace in and through us!
