When trying times come what do you find yourself talking about more?

The king at the time had killed one of the apostles. The church is being persecuted. Peter is arrested. This isn’t because of criminal activity but because the proclamation of the gospel.

Peter has been chained to not one but two Roman guards. He is in prison awaiting what could be his soon death. What is Peter doing? “that night Peter was sleeping,“ (Acts 12:6). Even facing death Peter was at peace enough to get a good night’s rest in chains. The Lord brings him out of prison, and we see what Peter has to say about this difficult time, “But motioning to them with his hand to keep silent, he declared to them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, “Go, tell these things to James and to the brethren.” And he departed and went to another place.” Acts 12:17

Peter didn’t share the details of the struggle but the victory of the Lord. He didn’t make the moment about himself but made it about the glory of the Lord. Even in the tough times we get an opportunity to give God glory. Are you walking in a trying time right now? What are you speaking more about the difficult moment or the goodness of the Lord? As we focus on Jesus no matter the situation, He gets the glory for our lives. Remember what Paul said, “Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory,” 2 Corinthians 4:16-17
