Acts is also written by Luke, the gospel we just finished reading. Good day to start afresh and commit to reading through. If you have questions text me throughout the week.

The start of the account written says (1) Jesus thru the Holy Spirit gave commandments to apostles, (2) presented Himself alive to the apostles, (3) after Jesus suffered many infallible proofs. The next part of the Lord’s plan is being initiated and the apostles still don’t fully understand what’s next. Before Jesus’ ascension they ask, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” (Acts 1:6). They were still thinking Jesus was going to relieve them from government tyranny but we know now that wasn’t the plan.

“And He (Jesus) said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”” Acts 1:7-8

It’s important for us as followers of Jesus to be aware of His return. I believe the Bible even speaks of us living with the mindset Jesus is coming back in our lifetime; even today potentially. Jesus answers the apostles’ question with an imperative. Jesus says to us, “it’s not for you to know” but I’m filling you with power of the Holy Spirit to live as a witness of what I’ve shown you. We can often focus on the wrong thing. His return is imminent but living out the gospel is imperative. He will return soon but for now… let’s be about His commands. As we focus on the mission lives will be transformed and more will be ready for His return.
