Finger pointers! Hmm…

Closing this epistle (written message) Peter says he does so to stir up minds and remind them of words previously spoken by the prophets.

He warns, “mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts,” (2 Peter 3:3). As time passes people will question the Lord, they will “willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water,” (2 Peter 3:5). And they will consider the Lord is slack concerning His promises (v9).

We’re in days described much like what Peter is writing about. During this time, it can be easy for us to POINT FINGERS of the evil we see daily. We can blame this or that group of people or the way things are being handled.

Or… or we can… live out the grace and peace of the Lord in the midst of a lost and dying world. Do you remember that we too were once far off from God? That we too were once sons and daughters of disobedience. It wasn’t the Lord’s slackness that saved us it was His long suffering towards us.

Let’s not finger point and slack in our living but longsuffering like the Father. Which means we deal with situations and people who may be difficult, but we do so “being found by Him in peace, without spot or blameless”. We pray for the salvation of those around us and we live out the Gospel of grace and peace, so they see Jesus.
