Here's what we know...

Peter writes to the church a warning & encouragement. He warns of false prophets and teachers among the church. The same is true today as it was in Peter's day. He encourages us with the truth of God's character though, "then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment," 2 Peter 2:9

Yes, there is judgment for false prophets and teachers. But just as the Lord has perfect judgment He also is perfect in His deliverance of the godly. Peter will continue this thought into the next chapter. From this chapter we know there was/will be false activities in the church, but God's character is of faithfulness, grace, and mercy. So, "be clothed with humility, for "God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble." Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time," 1 Peter 5:5-6

A humble heart before the Lord and others is an answer to falseness in the church. The Lord speaks to those who sit with Him. His Word & Holy Spirit will always produce fruit in our lives. Sit before Him today and let Him speak into your life.
